Today, I join Teradata as CEO. It feels a bit odd to start my journey during the time of COVID-19, but we can’t always choose when opportunities arise, and I just couldn’t say no to this one. I’m honored and excited to work with the data and analytic industry’s most talented people, and join them in helping to solve our customers’ biggest and most complex data and analytics problems at scale.
As part of my evaluation of Teradata, I spoke with customers who told me that, "No other solution can do what we ask Teradata to do." And then in conversations with leading industry analysts, I heard that Teradata has a tremendous opportunity to grow and take an even greater leadership position in the hybrid multi-cloud world. And, of course, there is never a day when there is less data being generated in the world.
Teradata has a unique position in a large market, and a blue-chip customer base. The expertise of our people and our unmatched software platform that powers the most complex data environments in the world, give us a tremendous leadership position that can be leveraged for growth.
In many ways, the unprecedented global health crisis has underscored the essential role Teradata plays in our customers’ success. For forty plus years, Teradata has led innovation in scalable software technology and services that has helped organizations leverage data to get the insights needed to efficiently manage their supply chains and keep manufacturing running; optimize the telecommunications networks that connect people with distant loved ones; provide critical patient care; bring life-saving drugs to market and more. I am proud to be joining an organization that is at the very forefront of helping businesses use data for good.
In strong alignment with Teradata’s culture and priorities, I am also deeply committed to the success of our customers and to keeping them at the center of all we do. We will offer our customers the best path to the cloud - on their timeline – and leverage our deep data and analytics expertise to help them realize the potential of their ever-growing data assets.
I have a lot to learn, but this I know: Teradata has a rich heritage with dedicated and passionate people who are committed to cultivating a workplace that makes inclusion, diversity and openness a company-wide priority. We are financially strong, have an outstanding platform and a customer base that others can only dream of. I intend to continue our customer-led approach and listen with respect to different perspectives – using our diversity as strength to advance our strategy and ensure Teradata is the partner of choice for customers around the world who need hybrid, cloud-based solutions.
Pandemic or not, I believe in what we can do together, and I am truly honored and humbled to lead this great company forward.
