Customers benefit from access to the best analytic technology

Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the leading analytic data platforms, applications and services company, today announced that its global research and development group, Teradata Labs, has been recognized for mature business processes and quality control management by the CMMI Institute, a part of Carnegie Mellon University. Teradata Labs was rated at the elite Maturity Level 3, which is based on appraisal criteria from the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Version 1.3 developed by the Software Engineering Institute.

"This global rating affirms our commitment to constant improvement," said Oliver Ratzesberger, senior vice president and general manager, Teradata Labs. "The highest quality business processes translate into proven analytic technology. With that technology, Teradata customers can infuse intelligence into their enterprises, which helps to make them more competitive."
"To ensure the delivery of high quality products and continuously adding value to their customers, Teradata Labs has adapted this new version of the model CMMI for Development Version 1.3 successfully with a strong background and experience they have built over the years. During this appraisal, Teradata Labs has once again proven their maturity with not only the process system they have built but also with their employees, team members and management commitment to high quality," said Dilek Ozdemirci, SEI-Certified Candidate SCAMPI lead appraisal and Asset-IT consultant.
The goal of a CMMI appraisal is to measure and formally rate the maturity of business and governmental practices against the best practices in the industry that are documented in the model addressing development and maintenance activities covering definition, development, delivery, and maintenance of hardware and software.
The CMMI appraisal is the result of more than 20 years of ongoing work at Carnegie Mellon University by members of industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute. Powered by Carnegie Mellon, the CMMI Institute is working to build upon CMMI’s success, advance the state of the practice, accelerate the development and adoption of best practices, and provide solutions to the emerging needs of businesses around the world.
