Awards celebrate the best of San Diego County's business community

Teradata, the leading analytic data solutions company, announced it was selected as the Business Leader of the Year by the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce.

“This awards program is a true celebration of doing business successfully, doing business responsibly, and doing business in the spirit of San Diego’s North County,” said Debra Rosen, president and chief executive officer, San Diego North Chamber of Commerce.
The purpose of the Business Leader of the Year Award is to recognize those corporations that have demonstrated a philosophy of giving and corporate social responsibility to make a significant impact on the San Diego North County’s health and well-being.
“As one of the major employers in San Diego, Teradata is proud to be a part of the community and receive this award for corporate giving, social responsibility, and employee volunteers,” said Scott Gnau, president, Teradata Labs. “Teradata employee volunteers are enthusiastic, devoted, and passionate about the San Diego causes they support.”
In 2012, San Diego Teradata office employees volunteered more than 2,400 hours. Their efforts affected over 900 lives and resulted in donations of over $8,700 to several non-profit organizations. This emphasis has been on the environment, health, and education, which includes the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) school programs. Employees have completed habitat restorations with the San Dieguito River Park, keeping river areas clean by adding native plants and removing invasive ones. They regularly volunteer their time working with Habitat for Humanity, Harmonium San Diego, and San Diego Freedom Ranch. Throughout the year, employees donated 130 pints of blood to the San Diego Blood Bank. They have mentored FIRST robotics teams at Rancho Bernardo High School and Del Norte High School during the year, training students on engineering and programming concepts.
The 2013 awards celebrate the best and brightest of San Diego County's business community by highlighting achievements in corporate and individual categories. The business achievement awards were judged by representatives from the San Diego Business Journal, The Daily Transcript, and the Pomerado News.
