Teradata Wins “Summit Thought Leader Award” at The Next Generation Utilities Europe Summit 2012

Teradata recognized at a leading industry event for their thought leadership on integrated data management, enabling the smart grid

Teradata (NYSE: TDC), has been voted the solution provider “Summit Thought Leader” at The Next Generation Utilities Europe Summit 2012. This annual event is an arena for senior level executives to engage in focused and meaningful dialogue with their peers and examine their management objectives.

“We have a clear focus on how to ensure Europe’s leading Utilties deliver new value from integrating the rich data sets available to them” said David Socha, EMEA Utilities Practice Leader, Teradata. “This award shows that the industry is acknowledging the importance of integrated data and analytics and motivates us to continue to drive this conversation. We are delighted by this recognition from such an esteemed group of utility experts.”

Awards were presented in two additional categories, one for “Summit Thought Leader (Delegate)” and one for “Best Speaker” of the interactive Collabor8 networking sessions. The awards were voted for by the attendees, and presented by Jill Feblowitz Vice President, Utilities and Oil and Gas, IDC Energy Insights. Jill Feblowitz is a recognized thought leader in the application of information technology to the business problems of the energy industry.

In the workshop “Beyond Meter Data Analytics – the value of integrated data,” David Socha explained how a single, integrated data warehouse can combine new data sets such as smart meter and grid information with enterprise data, customer data, and external data, turning data into a company asset that drives additional business value.

Around 65 C-level delegates from Europe’s leading utilities attended. In addition around 20 solution providers and partners were invited, based on the strategic requirements listed by the delegates.
Attendees this year included Alliander; Centrica; CEZ; E.ON; EdP; EnBW; Endesa; Enel; ERDF; Essent; Gas Natural Fenosa; GdFSuez; IEC; RWE; and Vattenfall. Endesa were hosts of the event, held outside Barcelona. Typical attendee titles include Head of Smart Grid Initiative; Director, Strategy & Smart Grids; Vice President, Head of Smart.
