This is one of multiple Teradata-related opportunities currently available at Safeway.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Facilitate infrastructure impact assessments.

Work with architecture group on infrastructure strategies.

Engineer and design Teradata database solutions for business appliations.

Perform physical database designs in support of business applications.

Participate in the engineering and support Teradata infrastructure.

Document and communicate database designs.

Provide technical leadership to project and support teams.

Administer, back-up, maintain, and support Teradata Databases.



Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:


4 years experience performing database administration functions with Teradata.

Experience developing and supporting applications that access Teradata databases.

Experience and knowledge of UNIX MP RAS Operating system.

Literacy in database processes and technology.

Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, document and make presentations.

Must be able to instill a sense of confidence in co-workers.

Works well with others.

Must have strong understanding of writing and tuning SQL.

Must have familiarity with use of ODBC and JDBC.

Must have ability to multi-task multiple related tasks.

Experience with MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, UDB, and/or Oracle is a plus.

Must have good organizational skills.

BA/BS Math, Engineering, Science, or Business (not mandatory).

Some travel maybe required.
