Hi ,

I'm using ODBC driver 3.04.00.00 for connecting Teradata V12 database from Siebel 7.8.2 application. I could able to retrieve the data but I'm not able getting the Chinese characters instead of English Characters.

The Siebel application is on Solaris SPARC machine.

Below is the odbc.ini file configuration

Driver=tdata.so
Description=NCR 3600 running Teradata V1R5.2
DBCName=TDDEV
LastUser=
Username=
Password=
Database=
DefaultDatabase=

Is there anything missing in above file?

Any help/thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks
Siva.

Is your username set up with a default character set of Unicode?

- in your odbc.ini I do not see "Characterset" option, which represent the session's character-set. Since you did not specify anything, the default one is being used, which is ASCII. Suggest you to use one of the Teradata supported session-character-set for Chinese or UTF16(unicode) or UTF8(Unicode)

Ex : Characterset=UTF16

- You need to specify your application code page, if you application is ANSI (not unicode). It does not harm adding it, even if you application is Unicode. Add "IANAAPPCODEPAGE= " option to your odbc.ini. You need to choose right value for this option, matching your Chinese data, from "ODBC Application Code Page Values" table in Teradata ODBC User Guide (http://www.info.teradata.com/eDownload.cfm?itemid=082330030)

Ex : IANAAPPCODEPAGE=2026
