On our recent Teradata courses, we were told that it didn't support hints.

You need to make sure your runstats are all up to date, and the optimizer will take care of the rest.

The only way you can 'hint' Teradata optimizer is to collect stats and keep the statistics updated. Stale stats will lead to issues.
