Contract to hire

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) functions as a high-level data warehouse solution architect in a large complex Teradata environment. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of data warehouse implementation processes from business requirements through data modeling, application design, data sourcing, data transformation, data loading, and SQL performance tuning. The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for implementing and maintaining a multi-terabyte production data warehouse. In addition, the Senior Database Administrator participates in the design and implementation of a base layer (normalized) model to support optimal loading, access and reuse; and possess strong Teradata physical database design and SQL skills to participate in the design and implementation of an Information Layer structure using database views and tables to present data based upon user requirements. The Senior Database Administrator must have the ability to create complex semantic layer database views including the use of analytic functions and complex SQL join logic.

As a member of a team, the Senior Database Administrator should be capable of thinking independently with a willingness to follow pre-defined policies to satisfy our customers. This position will also participate in the rotation for on-call after hours support.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. or Canadian citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technology related field or equivalent work experience
Current experience with Teradata in an Unix environment
Minimum 7 years focused Database Administration work experience
Minimum of 3 years should have been spent performing database administration work in a data warehouse environment
Solid understanding of the following is required:
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Process modeling
Star schema design, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes
Data warehousing and decision support tools and techniques
Proficient in Teradata tools: Teradata Administrator, Teradata Manager, Teradata SQL Assistant, Teradata Priority Scheduler, and Teradata BTEQ
Strong Teradata internals knowledge to participate in the build of complex virtual/materialized dimensional database views
Strong Teradata database performance tuning skills
Strong SQL development and SQL performance tuning skills
Strong experience in UNIX (Korn) shell scripting
Must have a propensity for problem-solving
Ability to multi-task with several concurrent issues and projects
Must have good facilitation skills and strong analytical skills to understand data access requirements
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Healthcare business knowledge preferred
