Safeway, Inc. is seeking a Teradata DBA for our IT Technology Support Center, located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1) Work with Operations Support and End Users to solve database related problems in the Linux, Unix, and Windows environment.
2) Handle in a timely manner the setting up of infrastructure software, enabling users and other software to function effectively.
3) Work with DBA Engineering to resolve those problems that are beyond your experience and/or knowledge, as well as gain increased expertise.
4) Work with project teams to support and enhance performance and availability of systems.
5) Document solutions for problems where no solution is currently documented.
6) Provide training support to Operations staff and peer technical groups.
Qualifications:
1) Bachelors degree in Computer Science or associated field.
2) Technical training in Teradata database technology.
3) 4+ years supporting Teradata database technology. This would include troubleshooting database performance, application, and SQL query problems.
4) Must be proficient in working with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating system environments, including experience with Linux & Unix command shells.
5) Experience with Informix, Microsoft SQL Server Oracle, and UDB DB2 are a plus.
6) Highly technical and detail oriented.
7) Able to work independently.
8) Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
9) Ability to communicate clearly on technical matters with non-technical people.
10) Must be motivated to perform assigned tasks well and provide support on a 7x24 basis.
11) Possess a high degree of personal integrity.
12) Candidate must be willing to be located in Phoenix, Arizona
