Is there any mechanism in teradata
to know exactly which tables are locked
at a particular instance of time and the types of lock being imposed on the tables

There is a console utility called LOKDISP. Look it up in the Teradata Utilities Manual.

Thanks.I have also sth to share .
On Windows, the utilities can be run from Database Window, Teradata MultiTool, and from
the Teradata Command Prompt.
