Steering Committee

The PARTNERS Steering Committee is the leadership team for the PARTNERS User
Group. The Steering Committee provides candid communication and feedback to NCR
and Teradata senior management on issues relating to Teradata and data warehousing.
Members communicate via monthly conference calls and attend three face-to-face
planning sessions per year. The Steering Committee is instrumental in planning,
organizing, and executing the world-class annual Teradata PARTNERS User Group
Conference and Expo.

    Mary-Jane Jarvis-Haig has been working with Information delivery systems and services for the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) for over 25 years. She is currently the Data Warehouse manager and has been supporting Teradata systems since 1999.

    HBC is implementing an Enterprise Data Warehouse across its multiple divisions and retail channels. The Data Warehouse mandate includes logical and physical database design and implementation, Business Intelligence application development and rollout, and enterprise-wide Information and Reporting applications.

    Southwest Airlines
    Patrick Bolin is the Senior Manager of Enterprise Data Warehousing for Southwest Airlines. He has been with Southwest for ten years in a variety of application development leadership roles. He is also an active member of the Baylor University Information Systems Advisory Board. The Enterprise Data Warehouse is the foundation for Southwest Airlines' information delivery strategy, which provides analytics focused on maintaining its position of low-cost and high customer service leadership in the airline industry.

    Fred Hintenach is the Manager, Customer Service Operations for the United States Postal Service and is responsible for programs and policies that affect the day-to-day operations and performance evaluation of over 34, 000 Post Offices and Stations and the 100,000 employees who interact with customers on a daily basis. Customer Service Operations uses the U.S. Postal Service Enterprise Data Warehouse to monitor and improve overall post office and individual performance. Hintenach is a 34-year career postal employee who holds a BSBA from John Carroll University as well as a MBA in Business Management from Gannon University.

    Tobi Zappe has been working with Teradata systems since 1999. She is currently an Architect for the Nationwide Finance and Management reporting Data Warehouse. Her responsibilities include managing the database administrators and data modelers, and participating as a member of the Program Integration Team which ensures end-to-end compatibility between the various components that make up the Integrated Back Office. Prior to moving to the Finance team, Tobi was the Physical Infrastructure Architect for the Nationwide Insurance Data Warehouse.

    Deanne Larson Deanne Larson

    Deanne Larson is the Director of Program Management within the Data Warehouse Organization at AT&T Wireless Services. She has over 13 years experience in decision support development and data warehousing. Larson led the project team that launched the data warehouse at AT&T Wireless in 1998. She has been a speaker at several data warehouse conferences and her team at AT&T Wireless recently received the 2003 TDWI Best Practices Award for Data Quality. She received her BS in computer science and MBA in finance from Florida Atlantic University.

    Roger Bresnahan Roger Bresnahan

    Roger Bresnahan has been employed at Union Pacific for 35 years, of which, 32 years have been in the IT department. Bresnahan has been working with Teradata Systems since 1993. He is one of the principal founders of Union Pacific's Enterprise Data Warehouse, which now has over 2,000 integrated tables covering over 35 different subject areas, with over 4,000 users. His duties include project scoping, modeling, system design, and sourcing new subject areas or tables into the EDW. He is also the senior consultant in the retrieval and business use of EDW information.

    Nancy Colton Nancy Colton

    Nancy Colton is the Director of Decision Support Systems at WellPoint, Inc. Colton is responsible for setting the business direction for the WellPoint data warehouse. She leads a team of Business Analysts who identify business impacts to the data warehouse, and she acts as liaison between the information technology professionals and the business users. This group also services the many business users at WellPoint by providing training, help desk support, identifying system enhancements, and continuously prioritzing projects. Colton has been with WellPoint since 1988 and has held several positions related to the data warehouse.

    Mark Cooper Mark Cooper

    Mark Cooper has worked with the Information Superhub project—the FedEx enterprise data warehouse—since its inception in 1994. The system migrated through three different hardware and database platforms (each one successful in enabling increased business value), most recently using Teradata (since 1999). Today, he primarily handles the technical direction of the Information Superhub, including architecture, planning, design, and implementation. Cooper holds an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science (with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence) from UCLA, as well as a BS in Computer Science from Duke University.

    David Cortese currently serves as the Vice President and Divisional CIO for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, a multi-billion dollar division of the Los Angeles movie studio. In his role, Mr. Cortese oversees all aspects of information technology that support business operations, including manufacturing, distribution, customer service, finance, sales and marketing. Sony has recently made the leap into business intelligence by recently launching it's first enterprise data warehouse. Prior to Sony, Mr. Cortese spent over a decade in consulting spending seven years with consulting firm Accenture.

    Steve Geiger is responsible for leading the Carlson Companies enterprise-wide transformation and integration efforts. Through relationship-centric, knowledge-based, best-in-class, and strategically integrated strategies, the Carlson transformation is intended to evolve the global company into the most respected privately held company in the world. Prior to assuming his present role, Geiger was the Chief Strategy Officer for Carlson Marketing Group, responsible for leading the Peppers and Rogers Group, Measurement & Decision Science Strategy Consulting, Change Management Consulting, as well as the company's Consumer, Employee, and Channel marketing practices. He is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.

    Rudolf Holzapfel has more than 30 years of experience in the whole spectrum of IT. For nearly 10 years he has worked with Metro, one of the largest retailers in the world. Metro has implemented multiple Enterprise Data Warehouses across its various retail channels. He is responsible for the IT-production and Systems Administration across all platforms and Database Systems including OS administration, capacity planning, systems integration, problem management, and performance management for the Teradata DWH Systems since the first installation in 1997.

    Randall Parman Randall Parman

    Randall Parman has been working with Teradata systems since 1989. He is currently the Database Administrator for the Data Warehouse at Applebee's International. At Applebee's, he is involved with building an enterprise data warehouse. His responsibilities include modeling the enterprise, system administration, and planning for future growth and expansion. Prior to moving to Applebee's International, Parman was the System Administrator/Technical Lead for the NCR/Teradata systems at Union Pacific. At Union Pacific, he helped direct the expansion of the Teradata systems from a 40 GB NCR3600 with 20 users, to a 3.2TB NCR5200 with over 4,000 users. His responsibilities included capacity planning, performance monitoring, and system integration of the NCR/Teradata systems with other technologies at Union Pacific. He has presented at PARTNERS conferences and participated in forums at the Global Support Center in Rancho Bernardo, California. Parman has also been a member of the Product Advisory Council, serving as chairman from July 1995 through October 1999.

    David Templeton David Templeton

    David Templeton is the manager responsible for Enterprise Data Management at RBC Financial Group. This mandate includes development of standards and delivery of data management services including data modeling, database administration and metadata services for all of RBC's operational applications and the Enterprise Data Warehouse Environment. David has worked in IT for 18 years in positions ranging from software programming and database administration to project management. David has worked with Teradata for 4 years and led the implementation of RBC's data warehouse consolidation strategy and several initiatives to operationalize the Data Warehouse Environment as it evolves to an active state.

    Elizabeth Corley Elizabeth Corley

    Elizabeth Corley is responsible for NCR's external, customer-directed communications for Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, including direct marketing, collateral and success stories, and events and seminars. Corley is one of NCR's strongest supporters of PARTNERS, and she brings her experience in sales and marketing of leading-edge business solutions and technologies to help promote and grow the Conference. She directs the team that manages the day-to-day operations of planning and running the Conference.

    John Dinning John Dinning
    Vice President, Solutions Marketing and Alliances
    Teradata, a division of NCR
    John Dinning is Vice President, Solutions Marketing & Alliances for Teradata, a division of NCR. He is responsible for Teradata's Customer Management, Financial Management, and Demand & Supply Chain solutions, as well as, Teradata's global alliance portfolio. Prior to holding this post, he was Vice President, Teradata Strategy & Planning. He has also held management positions in Product Management, Software Realization & Test Engineering, Sales and Professional Services for Teradata's CRM Software division. Additionally, through his management consulting background, John has been engaged in many new product/business development, organization change, and technology introduction projects across several industries including Telecommunications, Retail, Cable & Broadcasting, and Transportation.

    Scott Gnau Scott Gnau

    As vice president and general manager of Teradata Research and Development, Gnau is responsible for all research, development, and sales support activities related to Teradata warehouse solutions. Gnau's organization includes more than 1,000 employees in San Diego, Los Angeles, Raleigh, Toronto, and other locations overseas.

    Previously, Gnau was vice president of product strategy and portfolio management for Teradata, with the task of driving Teradata's continued investments in technology. Gnau and his team worked with customers, prospects, industry analysts, and academia to understand the market and continue refinement of Teradata's technology vision to meet the unique needs of the world's leading active data warehouse customers.


    Darryl McDonald Darryl McDonald

    McDonald leads a team responsible for the innovation and development of consulting capabilities and service offerings. Additionally, his team provides thought leadership for industry strategy and solution portfolio management for the manufacturing, financial services, communications, retail, healthcare, insurance, transportation, and travel industries, as well as the public sector.

    Strategic partnerships are critical to Teradata's strategy, growth, and the way it delivers value to its customers. McDonald's team is responsible for driving strategic partnerships that include Accenture, BearingPoint, CGEY, Deloitte, EDS, and SAP. These partnerships make available consulting and solution capabilities that provide additional value to our enterprise data warehouse and analytical solution portfolio.

    With experience in consulting, sales, and marketing, McDonald has been contributing to the success of Teradata and NCR for over 23 years. His leadership and experience have also allowed him to work with many Fortune Global 500 companies, which has provided him a unique perspective on the marketplace.


    Karen Ritzinger Karen Ritzinger

    As PARTNERS Conference Director, Karen Ritzinger draws upon her extensive experience with NCR Corporation. Ritzinger originally started in a support position within the Development organization. She then transferred into Marketing, where she has worked several positions within Product Marketing and Marketing Communications. Ritzinger has broad management experience including responsibility for the production of customer product literature and documentation; audio/visual sales support production, including sales presentations and customer videos; and extensive experience in managing customer events, seminars, and industry trade shows.

    Rebecca Salsbury Rebecca Salsbury
    PARTNERS Conference Manager
    Teradata, a division of NCR
    Rebecca Salsbury joined the PARTNERS planning team in 2003 and is primarily responsible for managing the conference speaker activities. She brings strong organizational and communication skills and proven results in strategic meeting planning and program management to the successful implementation of the Teradata PARTNERS Conference. Salsbury manages the Executive Briefing Program at Dayton headquarters for Teradata, a divison of NCR and was most recently program manager for Teradata University Network, a premier online resource for academics worldwide.
