Corporate vision must engage all aspects of the enterprise to be effective.
created by Scott Kim
Constructing an effective corporate vision establishes a clear, unified model that enables an organization to act cohesively and with
confidence in the marketplace. Vision must be clear and simple yet detailed and inspiring. Remember that the purpose of vision is to provide
guidance for people to act toward a common goal.
An effective vision can be a challenge to create, and it can also be difficult to implement. Unfortunately, divisions and departments with
decision- and profit-making capabilities will naturally want to protect and work to strengthen their respective areas, sometimes even at the
expense of other divisions and departments in the company.
To overcome this tendency to disintegrate, a company needs its vision to act like a magnet, attracting all parts of the organization toward a
single goal. With planning and proper deployment, technology can be that magnet. An enterprise data warehouse (EDW) provides a single source
of data on which decision makers throughout the enterprise can make educated decisions aligned with corporate strategy. In this way, the EDW
combined with a cohesive data management strategy can support the vision and unify the organization.
The six pieces below represent six divisions in an organization. Your challenge is to arrange them so they form a picture of a 3x3x3 cube,
with no extra parts of cubes visible. You may rotate or overlap pieces, and some pieces will hide parts of other pieces. The solution requires
all six pieces.
Hint: The six pieces are different colors for clarity only. In solving the puzzle, ignore the colors and pay attention only to the direction
of the shading.
