What are the differences between the Teradata Database in Teradata Express Edition 12.0 and the production Teradata Database 12.0?
Teradata Express Edition 12.0 is restricted to a maximum 4 GB database size whereas the production Teradata 12.0 can scale as large as you like.
There is no upgrade path from the previous demo CD or Express Edition version or from any production version of Teradata Database to Teradata Express Edition. Therefore, you are required to uninstall previous Teradata Database software and data when installing Teradata Express Edition.
The Express version uses regular Windows files for the database storage instead of raw disk partitions.
The Teradata Express Edition 12.0 includes the Teradata Service Control program that allows you to start and stop the Teradata database. Teradata Service Control is installed as part of the Teradata Express Tools.
What are the licensing and functional limitations of Teradata Express Edition 12.0?
Teradata Express Edition 12.0 is a 2-year license for development, evaluation and training purposes. Teradata Express Edition 12.0 is not licensed for production use. User data is limited to 4 GB.
Please read and accept the license agreement prior to installing Teradata Express Edition 12.0.
Support is limited to installation-related issues.
Why can't I log on to Teradata even though it is running?
If you have Teradata running and get the following message when trying to connect, "10065 WSA E HostUnreach: The Teradata server can't currently be reached over this network," you may have a firewall issue. Please disable Microsoft Windows Firewall or any third-party firewall software and try again. Disable Windows Firewall on Windows by selecting Start>>Control Panel>>Windows Firewall.
