Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the world's largest retailer, with more than 3,600 stores in the U.S. serving more than 100 million customers per week.

Wal-Mart has what many believe to be the biggest data warehouse in the world — and Teradata has been Wal-Mart's data warehouse vendor of choice since the company went live with the first Teradata system over one terabyte in January of 1992. Wal-Mart currently has 460 terabytes of data - roughly twice the amount contained in the entire Internet.

Wal-Mart's Teradata Warehouse is the foundation for the company's Retail Link decision-support system, which Wal-Mart suppliers use to study item-level inventory and sales information. Wal-Mart has expanded its Teradata Warehouse to enhance the applications that run on the system and deploy new applications aimed at improving customer service.
