The move, assisted by Teradata's TPump, which trickle-feeds hourly data updates, allows Norfolk Southern to offer customers 24x7 online access to their rail accounts.

Since implementing the Teradata Active Data Warehouse, more than 1,500 Norfolk Southern customers regularly access their shipping information through the data warehouse. Calls to the railroad's customer service center are down 35% over the past year. Another 1,000 Norfolk Southern employees query the data warehouse regularly for data to make better-informed decisions.
