Cardinal Health distributes one in every three pharmaceutical products dispensed in the United States. Cardinal's pharmaceutical segment generates $54 billion in sales per year and is growing. Its data was stored in two physically separate data warehouses, both of which needed to be accessed simultaneously — which was impossible with their former system.
Cardinal solved its problem with a new system from Teradata. Teradata's solution is scalable so the data warehouse can grow along with Cardinal. Cardinal currently has 3 terabytes of data with plenty of room for growth.
Cardinal has already received substantial return on its Teradata investment, realizing savings by eliminating unnecessary costs, increasing productivity, reducing inventory, and processing the same number of transactions in 24 hours that formerly required a week.
