The State of Missouri Department of Treasury, Division of Taxation, recovered more than $21 million from noncompliant tax filers after launching a Teradata Warehouse — with the first $2.2 million coming in the first 14 days.
Teradata Tax Solutions are based on the Teradata Warehouse in combination with professional services and additional Teradata solutions, including Revenue Opportunity Assessment, Tax Discovery, Teradata Warehouse Miner and the Case Management Component, an integrated application that manages, tracks and assists in resolution of all leads for tax compliance and revenue recovery produced with the solution.
"We would not have been able to collect the amount of noncompliant tax dollars without the partnership with Teradata," says Maura Browning, Missouri Department of Revenue. "Currently we are focusing on improved compliance in the individual income tax, sales tax, employer withholding and corporate/franchise tax areas."

Like most businesses, the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) is measured on the revenue it collects and the service it delivers. In tax administration, these missions can conflict to enforce the tax laws firmly and fairly, and at the same time, provide individualized service to each customer. According to Jim Brentlinger, administrator for the state DOR, "We've already collected more than twenty-nine million dollars worth of unpaid and underreported taxes that, honestly, without the Teradata solution, we are pretty sure we might not ever have seen." In this podcast learn how the Teradata Warehouse helps the DOR balance tax laws and customer service.
