How do I start the Teradata Database?

The Teradata demo applications include the Teradata Service Control window that allows you to start and stop the Teradata database. You must install the Teradata demo applications during the installation process.

How do I run the demos?

Once you install the Teradata products and demo applications, you can invoke the demo applications by selecting Start>>Programs>>Teradata For Microsoft Windows Demo>>Sample Applications. If you would like to step through a product demonstration, select the Sample Application and Utility Demo Scripts menu item that includes product demonstration scripts.

Why can't I log on to Teradata even though it is running?

If you have Teradata running and get the following message when trying to connect, "10065 WSA E HostUnreach: The Teradata server can't currently be reached over this network", you may have a firewall issue. Please disable Microsoft Windows Firewall or any third party firewall software and try again. Disable Windows Firewall on Windows XP by selecting Start>>Control Panel>>Windows Firewall.

Can I run the demo on Microsoft Windows Vista?

Microsoft Windows Vista is not supported by the 8.1 Demo CDs. Vista will be supported with a future Teradata Demo CD.
