Organizations are trying to get a grip on performance management, which is critically linked to their enterprise governance and risk management.
In this interview, John Van Decker, Senior VP and Principal Research Fellow, for the Robert Frances Group,
discusses some of today's toughest issues in terms of risk and financial performance.
"Understanding, monitoring and measuring financial performance is key because it's at the root of investor value," says Decker. He goes on to detail why it's critical to have information in a timely manner and how that same information helps make key business decisions today and helps determine future business investments.
"For years, the mantra of the finance department was 'how can we reduce costs and improve effectiveness?' I think the need to bridge financial and operational processes will expand over the next three-five years, particularly in the Business Performance Management discipline," explains Decker.
In this thought leadership Q&A, Decker further details how challenges today differ from those in the past as well as those that will arise in the future, and discusses how financial performance procedures are vital to managing an effective Enterprise Data Warehouse.
"Companies need to understand the value of business intelligence standards as well as effective data management/governance," says Decker. Within the Q&A, he details suggestions for a better understanding and how to bring your business to the next level.
