Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), Canada's largest department store retailer with more than 500 stores, generated a tremendous amount of data spread across a number of operational systems.
Implementation of a Teradata Warehouse solution combined with Teradata Database Query Manager, Teradata Priority Scheduler, Teradata SQL Assistant, Teradata Manager and Teradata Visual Explain has given HBC a 300% return on investment in data warehousing technology. The system has dramatically improved promotions by ensuring the right inventory is in the right location at the right time. In addition, inventory and buying decisions are now made based on analysis of detailed transaction data, losses to fraud have been curtailed, and market basket analysis has uncovered product affinities that have led to more effective promotions.
