DAYTON, Ohio - The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts today announced that it has selected
Teradata, a division of NCR Government Systems LLC, which is owned by
NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), to continue to provide the platform for its Advanced Database System (ADS).
With this selection, the Texas comptroller, which has been running the ADS application on Teradata since 1997, recommits to Teradata after testing another vendor that proved to be unsuccessful in replicating the robust Teradata solution.
Since the inception of ADS, the Texas comptroller has collected in excess of $500 million in additional revenue for the state. Generation of this revenue to the state has been at a rate of $1 million per week.
"We are confident that our new Teradata system will continue to serve us as well, allowing continuity of revenue flow as we develop new programs and applications," said Eddie Coats, manager of automation support and research for the Texas comptroller.
The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and its 3,000 employees are charged with collecting taxes and fees owed to the state, and enforcing its tax laws. The agency administers more than 30 different state taxes and processes 3.3 million tax returns annually.
"We are pleased to be selected once again by the Texas comptrollers' office," said Steve Taylor, Teradata's vice president of revenue and compliance. "It is always meaningful to learn that our systems outperform the competition, and we are confident we will continue to provide the highest levels of support for the comptrollers' office initiatives."
The warehouse is fed through a mainframe with internal and external data from a number of sources, including the Texas Workforce Commission, Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Customs, Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, Internal Revenue Service, and a database of vendors to the state.
