DAYTON, Ohio –
Teradata, a division of
NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), today announced the Teradata® Transportation Logical Data Model (Trans LDM) 2.0, which is the framework for business intelligence and essential for building the foundation for a powerful and flexible enterprise data warehouse.
The new release, which was developed in collaboration with a leading trucking company and an international package delivery company, specifically addresses customer needs in the truckload, less-than-truckload, package delivery, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), fourth-party logistics providers (4PLs), distributors, local delivery and postal industries.
The Teradata Trans LDM 2.0 enables transportation companies to understand the complexities of their data and the critical business questions that need to be answered within the enterprise. Deployment of the Trans LDM 2.0 provides enterprise cost savings and quicker returns on investment by reducing implementation time, by using proven modeling techniques to reduce risks associated with rewriting of home-grown models and by providing a single version of the truth to enable reliable customer decisions based on accurate, detailed data.
"Building a model of an enterprise-wide system is an immense task that can take years to complete. Teradata has leveraged more than 25 years of experience in building the Transportation Logical Data Model so our customers don't need to spend time and money to build their own," said Brad Fellows, senior partner for transportation, Teradata.
"Where the rubber meets the road for Teradata Trans LDM 2.0 is with inventory management and track-and-trace, two interconnected business processes that are mission-critical for transportation companies. The new release integrates planning for inventory management and track-and-trace with shipping and logistics, distribution management, customer relationship management (CRM) support and financial management and reporting, as well as Web-based activities, to ensure that the right people in the organization know where people, products and assets are at all times."
The new release provides specific logistics support for 3PLs, 4PLs and distributors, supports Teradata's CRM, Value Analyzer and e-Biz solutions and is designed to help drive radio frequency identification (RFID) deployment by including specific data fields associated with an RFID implementation. Release 2.0, which benefits from Teradata's development of LDMs for other industries, also supports the Logistics, Supply Line, Fulfillment, Forecast, and Finished Goods modules of Teradata's Supply Chain Intelligence solution as well as the Transportation Business Improvement Opportunities for the management of customers, finances, orders, resources and logistics.
