Jefferson County Public Schools Case Study

Jefferson County Public Schools is the 26th largest school in the country, serving more than 96,000 students and employing 18,000 people. Since the initial Teradata warehouse solution was installed in 1988 the data warehouse has grown and developed to support more than 1,000 users in 25 business departments throughout the school system. JCPS estimates that the return on investment for the Teradata solution is between 10 to 15 times the cost of its annual investment. Data is available to customers virtually 100% of the time 24 x 365 and uptime over the past 15 years has been 99.9%.

From managing federal funding to correlating professional development and student test performance and achievements the Teradata Warehouse has become a mission-critical component for numerous departments within JCPS. Additionally the warehouse has helped JCPS identify complex interrelationships, providing knowledge that supports complex decision-making and creates a springboard for new opportunities. The Teradata Warehouse has turned a huge collection of JCPS information into a highly valuable asset providing significant benefits many times over its cost.
