All the right moves
by Scott Kim
Enabling a real-time enterprise (RTE) is a challenging puzzle. It requires a deep understanding of the underlying IT infrastructure, as well as of the business. As the business strategy defines the need for an RTE, IT must make the appropriate "moves" for a successful implementation.
Todd Walter's article "Teradata's Real-Time Enterprise Reference Architecture" discusses the need for a blueprint that outlines the "moves" for integrating your data warehouse and all system services in a seamless fashion. He also emphasizes that this blueprint must be flexible in providing an assortment of options so that you can react appropriately as you negotiate the inevitable twists and turns encountered throughout the implementation.
Regardless of whether your "puzzle" is a Rubik's Cube or the building of an RTE, make sure you have a blueprint that provides you with an appropriate "order" of moves yet is flexible enough to offer options. Find out if you have all the right moves and play now. Solve the puzzle for a chance to win a Teradata varsity-style jacket. T
