MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (NYSE: RT) has invested in a Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) from Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world’s largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, to consolidate source data and build a cross-functional business intelligence environment.

Ruby Tuesday’s current environment includes data marts that were originally designed for transactional processing to represent information from key operational and financial source systems. In this environment, business analysts experienced slow response times to queries.

With the purchase of the Teradata Active EDW, Ruby Tuesday will consolidate its data on a single platform for faster query results and lower database maintenance costs.

"We will leverage the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse, Teradata database and Teradata software applications and tools to enhance our business intelligence," said Nick Ibrahim, chief information officer, Ruby Tuesday. "As cash-conscious consumers carefully choose their dining experiences, it is critically important that we maintain a sharp focus on items such as promotional campaign return on investment and operational factors that impact store profitability."

Ruby Tuesday will also implement Teradata Warehouse Miner for data profiling and in-database mining, and Teradata Food Service Decisions, a set of reports to analyze menu items, promotions, property performance, operations, and customers. The Teradata Retail Logical Data Model for food service, which models the data relationships of the business and serves as the basis of the physical database design, will also be implemented. With the help of Teradata’s professional services Ruby Tuesday will be able to quickly begin realizing a return on its technology investment.

"Teradata’s intellectual property and expertise in food service analytics were a key consideration in the selection process," said Dave Porter, director of hospitality and gaming, Teradata Corporation. "Although we have the best data warehouse technology in the industry, it’s also our industry knowledge and consulting that differentiates Teradata and helps companies like Ruby Tuesday distinguish themselves from their competition with better, faster decision making."

There are more than 950 company-owned and franchised Ruby Tuesday restaurants in North America and around the world.
