In Italy, the local post office is a major hub of life. Poste Italiane serves the postal, mobile phone, insurance, and other vital needs of millions of customers – and as a result, was faced with enormous disparate databases with records that often duplicated each other.
Poste Italiane chose an Enterprise Data Warehouse and relies on assistance from Teradata Professional Services to consolidate data from its various divisions.
Today Post Italiane uses customer information to create customer targets of interest for other companies and further enhance revenues. "This is a service project that we were able to do in only weeks because of the data warehouse from Teradata," says company Information Management Director Stefano Sappino. Poste Italiane is also using data mining techniques support new product launches and marketing initiatives, while geospatial and customer data integration are enhancing analysis and optimizing asset allocation, maximizing resource utilization, and drive investments in commercial networks.
