Applebee's

To keep the feel of a neighborhood grill, Applebee's needed to understand its customers — and their appetites. But the company soon found that compiling and then analyzing data from so many regions and restaurants was far too slow and inefficient. Their objectives included:

  • Integrating data from labor, financial, inventory, management and food cost systems
  • Reducing the timelines for collecting and segmenting restaurant sales data
  • Improving the ability to forecast demand during promotional periods

Teradata designed and installed an integrated enterprise data warehouse (EDW) in the Applebee's Restaurant Support Center. Applebee’s uses its EDW to find the fast, actionable data it needs to improve offerings to its customers, while also dramatically improving the overall efficiency of their operations.

Applebee's IT and business staff can now slice and dice important data, helping them better conclude:

  • What customers like to eat
  • How they want it served
  • What should be included on the menu
  • What should be eliminated
  • Which items could be improved
