Freescale Semiconductor and Teradata are named winners in the BI category in the 2009 BeyeNETWORK Vision Awards for Business Impact. Freescale launched a Teradata based enterprise-wide data and analytics platform to enable faster and more informed business decision making. The Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) program combines manufacturing and business data into one single data warehouse, enabling cross-domain analytics, and has enabled new analytic capabilities that have reduced cycle times for many business processes from days down to hours or even minutes. As noted by one of the judges, Freescale successfully used BI to drive business process change resulting in tangible bottom-line BPM and significant ROI.

With increased pressure on revenue, expenses and finding the most profitable customers, two Teradata customers have implemented solutions create winning, agile BI strategies. ARC wins top honors in "Expediting Information Delivery, Retrieval, Reporting and Analysis" showing how users to mine and access data on their own while maintaining standards, quality and consistency. RBC is also honored as a finalist in "Creating an Agile BI Infrastructure", showing how they quickly access, use and share quality business information providing BI, analytics and reporting solutions sets to business users.

CIO's from Haggen and Discover Financial Services are honored in 2009's top CIO 100 Awards. Based on Teradata solutions, each entry was evaluated on two criteria: innovation and business value. The companies had to demonstrate not only that they were able to create new value using IT to execute their project well and in uncommon, innovative ways including: pioneering a new technology, applying a familiar technology to a new purpose and setting the bar higher for their competitors.  

Congratulations to GE Rail for being named winner in the Operational BI category by TDWI in the 2009 Best Practices Awards program. Recognized for their excellence in developing, deploying and maintaining outstanding BI and data warehousing applications, GE Rail's initiatives in operational BI keeps the growth rolling with millions of dollars saved in asset management and real-time repair analytics. 

Freescale Semiconductor and Teradata received the honor of being named 2009 TDWI Best Practices winner in Enterprise BI. Every year, TDWI identifies one outstanding company in each category that has made the best use of technology to enhance their business. Freescale's real-world IT project uses data warehousing and analytic technologies from Teradata for a smarter enterprise to compete and lead in their market.

For three years in a row ARC has been honored in TDWI's Best Practice Awards. Once again, we congratulate ARC as a winner in the 2009 awards program in the Predictive Analytics category. Built on a Teradata data warehouse, ARC's initiatives allow airlines to identify new revenue opportunities by incorporating greater insight into airline customers and their buying habits. The technology and innovation from Teradata has helped ARC achieve annual double-digit growth over the past seven years.

Recognized in the Computerworld Honors program, Nationwide Insurance's project received the Laureate Medal for its achievement in providing their network of over 3,500 exclusive agents the data quality, tools, and visibility to policy level details formerly unavailable that were needed to be self sufficient. Much of Nationwide’s success can be directly attributed to the relationship between its agents and customers, and their use of technology in this area made it a stand-out in their industry.

Sabre Holdings wins Laureate Medal in 2009 Computerworld Honors program celebrating the contributions of people and organizations to the betterment of society through the use of information. The Sabre Traveler Security and Data Suite^SM (TSDS) provides travel agencies and corporations the ability to track travel plans of their customers and employees before, during and after they travel. In the case of an emergency – a natural disaster, terror event or health threat – TSDS provides business-critical information to locate and assist travelers.  

Financial Insights, an IDC company, announced that Maybank, a leading bank in Malaysia, wins in Financial Insights Innovation Awards (FIIA) 2009 and is among 10 financial institutions in the Asia Pacific region named as winners. Maybank was recognized for innovation in their business strategies, specifically around CRM. The Teradata system put in place an effective data foundation for advanced data mining and event-based marketing capabilities while developing best practices to integrate these new capabilities with the overall customer strategy of the bank. 

Sabre's Enterprise Traveler Security and Data Suite (TSDS) enables travel agencies and corporate travel managers to quickly locate and provide assistance to travelers affected by global events. This solution has provided value-added offerings beyond Sabre's traditional products, enabling Sabre to retain and grow its customer base as well as enabling Sabre's customers to improve the services they offer to their customers. As a result of TSDS, Sabre customers have seen monthly cost savings of $300 on average and in some cases have realized monthly savings as high as $1,200, thanks to the streamlined process for generating information and less reliance on reports generated through back office systems.

National Australia Bank (NAB) and Teradata were honored with the Gold Award for the Multichannel Marketing category in NCDM's 2008 Database Excellence Awards. Additionally, the Teradata multichannel program, enhancing the bank's existing CRM capabilities with analytics-based customer triggers and dashboards, took top overall database marketing honors, winning the NCDM Platinum Award.

Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," announced the finalists and winners for its inaugural Enterprise Intelligence Awards Program, sponsored by Teradata. The Enterprise Intelligence Awards Program is focused on best practices in the use of information technology solutions built on Teradata platforms. Three finalists with one winner in each of the four categories were recognized at the Enterprise Intelligence Awards Program ceremony at the 2008 Teradata PARTNERS User Group Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. The Enterprise Intelligence Awards Program is wholly and independently managed by Computerworld, sponsored by Teradata, with judges selected by Computerworld from senior IT management who themselves have received past industry awards.

Teradata congratulates BNSF for being recognized as the 2008 "21st Century Achievement Award" winner for the successful implementation of a locomotive fuel-saving program that cut consumption by 1.5 percent in specific regions. The program is projected to deliver a full 1 percent increase in efficiency after complete implementation. In 2007, BNSF used more than 1.4 billion gallons of fuel.

"By rewarding increased fuel efficiency, BNSF is creating an environment in which engineers strive for peak fuel conservation performance each month, with positive effects on both the BNSF bottom line and the global environment," said Jeff McIntyre, assistant vice president, Technology Services, BNSF. "We are using technology to gain valuable insight to alter what happens in the future, rather than just looking at what has happened in the past. Because BNSF already had in place the means for collecting the information and, in many cases, the actual data needed to perform the analyses, the IT department was able to complete the Fuel MVP project in three months."

Computerworld Infrastructure Management World Awards 2008 honors Nationwide Insurance as a top finalist. Computerworld judged the case study from Nationwide Insurance as a top finalist in the awards program for the Servers and Virtualization category. In 2007, the IT organization at Nationwide Insurance converted a routine need to refresh legacy servers into a significant opportunity to support the business's growth goal. Recognizing the increasing maturity of virtualization technology, along with a new class of hardware, the team embarked on a strategic infrastructure management initiative to consolidate servers and upgrade much of its critical enterprise data warehouse environment. As a result, Nationwide improved server performance, availability and scalability, while generating substantial savings.

This year, two Teradata customers have been honored with the prestigious TDWI Best Practices Awards. This awards program recognizes organizations for developing and implementing world-class data warehousing and business intelligence solutions. Winners are chosen by a panel of independent judges who have expertise in business intelligence and data warehousing.

Standing out from among many competing submissions, Teradata customers were acknowledged for their exceptional leadership in the development and execution of data warehouse-driven business practices generating significant business value. The winning Teradata customers are:
