Rocky Blanton serves as president of the Americas region for Teradata and is a member of the Teradata leadership team. In this position, he leads a team of more than 1,200 Teradata sales and professional services associates across the communications, financial, government, insurance, manufacturing, retail, transportation and travel industries for the Americas region (U.S., Canada and Caribbean/Latin America).
Blanton is responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of critical solutions in enterprise data warehousing, business intelligence, customer relationship management, demand chain management and supply chain intelligence for many of the world's most successful companies. Under his leadership, the Americas region has sustained solid revenue and customer growth across multiple industries. Customers include 90 percent of the top global communications companies, 60 percent of the top global airlines, 50 percent of the top global transportation logistics companies, 50 percent of the top global retailers and 40 percent of the top global banks.
Prior to his current position, Blanton was vice president of the National Accounts Division (NAD) and oversaw the strategy for organization structure, sales, consulting services, implementation and lifecycle management of data warehouse solutions for Fortune 500 accounts. As head of NAD, Blanton was responsible for 60-percent growth and helped to establish a manufacturing industry business for Teradata, which positioned Teradata for growth in this segment globally.
Blanton began his career with NCR in 1982 and has held various sales and management positions. From 1998 to 2000, he served as vice president of data warehousing for the retail solutions group. In this capacity, Blanton developed strategic long-range plans for the retail data warehousing market and ensured that the field services and sales organization was resourced properly to grow Teradata's market share.
Blanton earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and data processing from Morehead State University in Kentucky.
