Program Agenda:

April 19
7:00 - 8:20am  Breakfast / Networking
8:20 - 8:30am   Welcome from Dean Wold, Area Vice President, Teradata

8:30 - 9:30am  Teradata Keynote: The Analytics of Things: Where Sensors Make Cents
The Internet of Things is found all over the web, the nightly news, magazines, Gartner, IDC, and others. The trend is building to a crescendo. But if even half the forecasts come true, this is only the beginning of a trend much bigger than big data. It’s time to explore how connected devices with tiny sensors are radically reshaping our lives, our companies, and the competition. These smart connected products will require new IT infrastructure and new business thinking as well. The good news is, once the data is flowing, we can apply many of the data integration and data management techniques we have perfected for so long. The business value should start flowing too. In this session, we will take a tour of Internet of Things use cases (always fun) and high level architectures. Naturally, we need to take a look at the data and how it is managed differently. We will spend a little time on road blocks to success, as well as analytic best practices. And of course, real Teradata customer examples always provide useful insights. Come learn how the Analytics of Things can produce the Big ROI.

Speaker: Jason Janetzke (Big Data & Advanced Analytic Director, Teradata)

9:30 - 9:45am  Break

9:45 - 10:30am Data and Analytic Centricity – Accelerating Outcome by Being Data Driven
Teradata has always believed it is important to take a Data & Analytic centric approach, where the data is managed so that business can ask “any question, against any data, at any time.” With the explosion in data volumes and new data types, as well as new analytic capabilities this centricity is more important than ever. These trends make it increasingly difficult to “connect the dots” at the same time businesses are challenged to leverage technology to act faster with less cost. Data still must be managed, but it is how it is managed that is important - not all data needs the same integration and governance. Learn how Teradata’s experience is being applied to this new challenge and how the Unified Data Architecture provides you a framework for success.

Speaker: Rob Armstrong (Data & Analytic Enthusiast, Teradata)

10:30 - 11:15pm Comprehensive Business Insights
Companies, across all verticals, are now confronted with myriad challenges. From customer churn, to fraud related losses, to optimizing channel investment, and everything else in between, the imperative to successfully address business challenges with a hard-nosed data driven approach is more critical than ever before. Recent analyst reports from Gartner, Forrester, and IDC, and others all underscore how important it is to develop and sustain an in-house analytics capability so that critical business questions can be answered as well as being able to successfully create a continued competitive edge in the market place. However, with the proliferation of a variety of data types (structured, unstructured, semi-structured), incredible volumes of data generated, and with the need to intelligently apply combinations of analytics techniques across many genres (e.g., Text, Graph, Path, Statistics), doing analytics is not as easy as it could be. In this session, we show how doing Advanced Analytics can be fun and how you do not have to have a deep investment in technical skills to benefit from it. We present to you Teradata Aster Analytics (the multi genre advanced analytics solution), demonstrate its various capabilities, show how critical use cases are addressed, and provide some resources that can allow you to quickly get started on your own analytics journey.

Speaker: Jason Janetzke (Big Data & Advanced Analytic Director, Teradata)

We will also explore new capabilities such as QueryGrid and JSON that you can leverage for greater insights. Come learn how we are making your business faster, and how you can make your business smarter.

1:45 - 2:15pm  Alation Gold Sponsor Presentation - Analytic Innovation Redefined for a Collaborative World
Alation is a Silicon Valley company that recently inked a strategic partnership with Teradata. Alation is the first time in, well, forever that someone has applied a Google page rank-like approach to organizing data for business users. Alation is a collaborative application to help business users do their job more efficiently and more accurately.

Alation observes analysts doing their daily tasks and increases a new hire’s onboarding time-to-productivity by 70% with smart data suggestions. Or ...helps veteran analysts speed their data prep and querying. And gives both groups a place to collaborate on analysis.

This session delves into how Alation automatically crawls information stored across Teradata, Aster, Hadoop Hive, and other databases, creating an interactive catalog of people, queries, tables, and relationships for your analysts. Armed with this information, Alation users can speed up their research and time-to-value with their favorite BI tool. Teradata calls this Collaborative Ideation – users helping users innovate with analytics - and it’s a key reason why Alation is strategic to both Teradata’s Sentient Enterprise and Unified Data Architecture. Come some see something truly new - a unique perspective on achieving productivity for the business user, power user, and data scientist.
