Analyst Report Shows Teradata Continues to Lead in Integrated Data Warehousing

New Information Difference Landscape reports that Teradata is the overall strongest technology provider whose customers continue to be ‘the happiest’
Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company, continues to be the global leader in data warehousing innovation according to The Information Difference, an international data management consultancy. The research firm publishes an annual Data Warehousing Landscape report covering the top data warehousing providers. The current report was released on January 30, and shows the significant database vendors ranked in a diagram on axes across two categories; Technology and Market Strength.

“Our research shows that Teradata continued to hold the strongest overall technology position throughout 2014 – at a time when new data types and data volumes have increased,” said Andy Hayler, chief executive officer and co-founder of The Information Difference. “Once again, Teradata's customers were ranked the happiest of those surveyed."
Teradata’s recent database innovations include the Teradata QueryGrid® big data solution in April 2014. The software gives users seamless, self-service access to data and analytic processing across different systems from within a single Teradata Database or Teradata Aster Database query. Teradata QueryGrid® orchestrates the power of multiple analytic engines, enabling users to analyze data without special tools or IT intervention. It minimizes data movement and duplication by processing data where it resides. No other database technology vendor offers this capability.

In the Information Difference commentary on data warehouse platforms that manage big data, Hayler concluded (based on the firm’s 2014 fourth quarter survey of businesses) that “Hadoop and data warehousing are distinct and complementary.” This has also been the Teradata point of view.

The research firm’s position for each vendor is derived from a weighted set of scores based on these factors: customer satisfaction as measured by a survey of reference customers, analyst impressions of the technology, maturity of the technology, and breadth of technology in terms of coverage in the context of the Information Difference functionality model.
