OKLAHOMA CITYTeradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world’s largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, today announced that OGE Energy Corp. (OGE) has selected the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance platform for enterprise data warehousing. The Appliance will support the energy company’s Smart Grid initiative being deployed by its utility subsidiary, Oklahoma Gas & Electric, which will utilize the Data Warehouse Appliance to consolidate existing data combined with new forms of data being generated by its Smart Grid systems.

“We have a rich repository of data, but as we rollout our Smart Grid systems, our data volumes will increase significantly along with a growing demand for advanced analytics. By consolidating the data together on the Teradata platform, our goal is to more effectively and efficiently determine how we can contribute to energy conservation while best serving our customers,” said John Davidson, director of information technology at OGE.

Teradata Professional Services and Customer Services will be involved in the transformation from disparate data marts to an integrated enterprise view of company operations and customer energy consumption.

OGE has also purchased the powerful analytics tools of Teradata Warehouse Miner to sort through its huge collection of data and a license for the Teradata Utilities Logical Data model to aid in the data consolidation and integration.

“By integrating their existing data with their new Smart Grid data on the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance, Oklahoma Gas & Electric will create a new generation of analytics that enables them to better understand and serve their customers and also gain a whole new understanding of actual energy consumption, how changing energy use affects power generation needs and how OGE’s grid assets are used,” said David Grant, vice president of industry marketing and solutions, Teradata Corporation.
