John Street

Principal Solution Architect, South Pacific Area, Teradata Australia Pty Ltd

John Street is the Principal Solution Architect for Teradata, South Pacific Area. He is responsible for technology & architecture within Teradata across Australia and New Zealand. His position sits in the Teradata pre-sales team and supports Sales and Customer/Prospect engagements. The Teradata technology delivers industry neutral advanced BI capabilities, however John has a long history in the Banking domain of Enterprise BI.

Before moving to Australia he was Principal Solution Architect in the UK where he supported Lloyds TSB and Barclays Bank for well over 12 years on their Enterprise Data Warehouse journey. He was the lead architect for the Teradata Dual Active implementation at Lloyds TSB in 2004. During his time at Teradata UK he also was involved with many other Teradata customers and prospects including Oracle to Teradata migrations.

With over 30 years experience in the IT industry in the UK, John has a very strong IBM background as a DB2 systems designer & CICS consultant, including 12 years as an independent consultant.

John has been the Data Warehousing space for over 25 years using the Teradata Solution and has held many roles; DBA, ETL & Application Designer & Developer, Implementation & Migration Technical Lead, COE contributor and Solution Architect. His first exposure to Teradata was in 1989 at British Airways working on what people would call now an appliance, the Teradata Database Machine (DBC 1012  1012 = 1TB). These varied roles gives him a solid base of experience in both hands on and the more strategic engagement processes. He has delivered data warehouse maturity assessments, health checks and strategic DW roadmap engagements.

What with the new “BIG DATA” buzz in the industry, John is involved in the architectural approaches of the Unified Data Architecture (UDA) from Teradata in this space. The UDA includes the leveraging of technology such as Aster and Hadoop as well as the traditional relational data paradigm in an integrated analytical ecosystem.

He has spoken at various Teradata Summits and External conferences on MPP technology and Data Warehousing in Australia and other countries. He is also a Certified Teradata Master.
